Kia Ora & Welcome

Having taught in various schools in the Southland region, I feel very privileged to be the Principal at Mararoa School. Mararoa is a small rural full Primary School (Year 0-8) with a big community sense of belonging. On arrival at Mararoa, it is evident that the Staff, Students, Parents/Caregivers and Friends of the school interact as one large family, which was an instant attraction for me.

Our staff are passionate, enthusiastic, lifelong learners who work tirelessly to ensure our students are actively engaged and motivated within their learning programmes. Staff and students are respectful in their interactions as they live out our School Values of Respecting themselves, the environment and others. Mararoa is a school where children learn to take responsibility and risks for themselves in a safe environment. They are supported and surrounded by their extended ‘family’ on their own Key Learning for Life’s Journey.
