Environment Southland Community Awards 2025

The Mararoa School 32 tamariki and staff are very excited to be the 2025 Environment Southland Environmental Action in Education Award winners! Our school value of Caring for the Environment is thread throughout our every day school life as we build on from what past students and teachers began. We continue our enviro journey to the present day and plan for the future. It was heartwarming and humble to have our journey recognised and acknowledged. The awards evening was a spectacular night where 6 students attended along with Mrs G-W and Miss A to see the videos and hear the inspirational stories of all the nominees. We are lucky to be a part of this amazing part of New Zealand where such a diverse and talented group of people volunteer their time to care for our earth. Congratulations to all involved in the awards. Due to limited numbers of tickets allocated, we were unable to invite all of our staff and tamariki, but while they may not have been with us at the time we would like to acknowledge how our reward is the result of everyone's combined mahi. A special thanks to Josh Sullivan from Environment Southland for his involvement with Mararoa as part of the Enviro School and leading enviro activities around Southland.
