Principal's message

Hello from me, the Mararoa School principal Ms Baigent.

During my career I have had the opportunity of teaching in many schools, both large and small, in urban and rural communities, both in New Zealand and overseas. However, it is the unique country school of Mararoa which has captured my heart.

We are a full primary school that operates as a family unit, where there is an atmosphere of trust, sharing and respect for others and the environment, and where children feel secure and happy, and enjoy success in everything they do.

The Staff, Board of Trustees, and Community work together as a team to ensure we have happy children who are rich in experiences and secure in a supportive and safe environment.

I am fortunate to work with an enthusiastic, committed and very supportive teaching staff who provide stimulating teaching and learning programmes which cater for children’s individual needs and differences.

We believe success in English, mathematics and statistics is the key to success across the curriculum and this is reflected in our three classrooms which emphasise strong literacy and numeracy based learning programmes.

Over the years Mararoa has earned a good reputation for not only its academic success but also for the children’s sporting achievements and it is our intention to continue this fine tradition.
