After leaving the flax mill, we enjoyed lunch and a play at the local playground before heading to Te Hikoi Museum in Riverton. There, we learned about the rich history of Aparima and the many stories that have shaped our local area. A huge thank you to Mrs Fleck and Mrs Boniface for generously sharing their knowledge and passion, helping bring Southland's history to life for our students. Although photography was not permitted inside the museum, we encourage everyone to visit and experience this remarkable treasure for themselves—we are incredibly fortunate to live in such a history-rich part of Aotearoa New Zealand.
A well-earned lunch and playground break gave us time to recharge before our afternoon of learning.
